Information About Our Church

Avalon Grace Church is an independent, non-denominational Bible Teaching Church committed to preaching the Gospel of the Grace of God whereby the lost will be saved and the saints will be edified through teaching the Word of God rightly divided in accordance with the Lord's instructions given to the Apostle Paul in 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV): “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

We believe the Bible is the verbally, divinely inspired Word of God and that its teachings should be our source of strength and joy as we walk with the Lord each day.

You will find that in our church we open our Bibles and focus our attention on what the Bible says.  We believe this is what God wants to us to do in ministry of a local church and to be a source of fellowship and Bible study.  Also, you will hear distinctions drawn between teachings in the Bible that apply to believers today, teachings that don't apply today, and instructions that were given by God to various groups of people throughout the Scriptures but were not intended for us today.

For instance, not all teachings in the Bible are intended for our obedience today.  Animal sacrifices, circumcision, handling snakes and drinking poison - all these things and more, are taught in Scripture, but are not intended for our obedience under today's purpose or plan of God called "the dispensation of the grace of God."  (Please see Ephesians 3:1-10).

Likewise, it is very important to understand that “rightly dividing the Word of truth” does not remove any of God's Word from our learning, edification, and profit. Rather, right division understands that the entire Bible is written for us, but not every verse is addressed specifically to us or written specifically about us. All scripture is profitable, but not every passage is addressed to the church, the Body of Christ, for participation or obedience.  “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.” - 2 Timothy 3:16-17

It is from the Apostle Paul that we read that all scripture is profitable for our learning:  “For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”  – Romans 15:4

It is by learning more and more of God's Word that we grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ as God intended.  We believe our ministry pleases the Lord as we endeavor to help interested people understand and enjoy the Scriptures.  We welcome anyone to come and worship with us and study the Bible together as we grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever (2 Peter 3:18).  It is our sincere hope that you will visit Avalon Grace Church very soon!

Did You Know?

There are special teachings about God's grace in the Church Epistles of the New Testament.  In Paul's early Epistles (Romans, 1 & 2 Corinthians, and Galatians) the doctrines of God's grace are expounded.  In his later letters, sometimes referred to as the Prison Epistles (Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians), the fullness of God's grace is recorded for our knowledge and joy.
